Bank Driver and Receptionist

Job Introduction

Bank Driver Receptionist – Out of Hours

The Role

Behind every urgent care shift is someone making sure patients are supported, clinicians can reach them safely, and services keep moving.

At IC24, our Driver Receptionists are a vital part of how out-of-hours care is delivered. They are often the first-person patients see, the person keeping clinics running smoothly, and the person supporting clinicians to reach patients who need urgent care at home.

We’re looking for people who are calm under pressure, compassionate with patients, and confident working in a fast-paced environment where no two shifts are the same.

This role combines reception and driving responsibilities across our Out of Hours services.

One moment, you could be welcoming a patient into the service and helping them feel reassured during a stressful situation. The next, you could be safely transporting a clinician to a home visit so care can be delivered where it’s needed most.

It’s a practical, people-focused role with real variety and real impact.

What you’ll focus on

→Supporting patients at the front desk
You’ll welcome patients professionally and compassionately, maintaining confidentiality and helping people feel supported during what can often be an anxious time.

→Keeping services running smoothly
You’ll manage appointment bookings, comfort calls and patient queries, while maintaining accurate records and ensuring effective communication between operational bases and contact centres.

→Providing safe transport for clinicians
You’ll carry out vehicle and equipment checks before safely transporting clinicians to home visits across the region. In some situations, you may accompany clinicians into patient homes.

→Working confidently with systems and processes
You’ll use IT systems to manage patient information accurately and support the smooth coordination of urgent care services.

→Responding to changing demands
Out-of-hours services can be unpredictable, so you’ll need to adapt quickly, stay organised, and work calmly under pressure.

→The environment you’ll work in

IC24’s Out of Hours services operate evenings, overnights, weekends and bank holidays - the times when patients often need urgent support most.

This is a bank role offering flexible shifts across a range of operational bases, including Thurrock, Southend, Basildon and Broomfield (Chelmsford). Flexibility to support other locations when required is essential.

You’ll be part of a supportive team environment where every role contributes directly to patient care and service delivery.
