PCN Pharmacy Technician

Job Introduction

Pharmacy Technician

Express new ideas, take initiative and save lives. Others talk about being brave, at IC24, we’re made that way.

From providing high quality integrated urgent care for over six million people, to thinking of innovative solutions for our patients – every role at IC24 is made to be brave.

Are you a passionate and dedicated Pharmacy Technician looking to make a real impact in primary care? We have an exciting opportunity for you to become an integral part of our dynamic multi-disciplinary team within a Primary Care Network (PCN) as part of a forward-thinking transformation programme.

Our mission is to deliver person-centred, coordinated care across the district—helping patients stay well, stay safe, and stay out of hospital. This is your chance to play a key role in shaping the future of healthcare, supported by national priorities including the NHS Five Year Forward View and GP Forward View.

Working alongside clinical pharmacists, GPs, and the wider primary care team, you’ll contribute to improving the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of prescribing practices. While this role does not involve prescribing, it offers the chance to work under clinical supervision to support medicines optimisation and improve systems and processes that benefit both patients and staff.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective prescribing.
  • Improve repeat prescribing systems, including repeat dispensing and online ordering.
  • Help reduce medicines waste and minimise clinical risk.
  • Lead switches to safer or more cost-effective medicines based on approved protocols.
  • Promote understanding of medicines optimisation within practice teams.
  • Assist with the implementation of national requirements and NICE guidelines.

 What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified and registered Pharmacy Technician (GPhC)
  • Experience in primary care, secondary care, or community pharmacy
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive and collaborative team player with a patient-centred approach
  • A passion for improving healthcare systems and outcomes
